Shoulder Pain

A masters swimmer on a pool deck, two strips of blue tape over his right shoulder

What it feels like

A shoulder that pinches when you reach overhead, aches at night when you lie on it, or feels weak putting a bag in the overhead locker.

Most shoulder pain is a tendon that got more load than it was ready for. It needs the right load back, not rest.

What we do

We test strength and range in every direction and find the movement that hurts. Tape can help the first fortnight in the pool.

Then a progressive band and weights programme, with your stroke or your lift brought back step by step.

A typical plan.
Yours is written at the first session.
